Testing Lead Content in Drinking Water

February 28, 2025

School districts must test for lead content in drinking water in their school facilities to ensure quality meets established guidelines under applicable provincial and federal legislation. Results must be reported annually to the Ministry of Education using the Excel document linked below.

Ministry of Health has changed the limit to 0.005mg/L (was 0.01mg/L)

School districts must take reasonable steps necessary to resolve elevated lead levels that are outside established guidelines on any drinking water quality test results.
